When will eircom provide ADSL in Collinamuck county Galway, less than 10 miles from the City?

The scandalous cost of line rental is also a factor. I know about half a dozen people who have disconnected their landlines because it's costing them so much. Instead they're using their mobiles for phone calls and mobile internet for going online. Yes, it's a backwards step to be going from DSL to mobile internet but if you're looking at cutting costs, fifty-odd Euros a month vs twenty is a no-brainer

Hmm. I wondered were problems like the one Tommy M has common in Ireland. Considering the huge updates and patches that have become a regular part of Internet browsing I would imagine that huge numbers of PCs in Ireland don't have an up to date/secure browser due to the impossibility of downloading over a slow connection. This is bound to affect the rollout of E-commerce in the Republic as 10's of thousands of unsecure users are out there.
